Ford: Towards the rapid disappearance of the CD player on new cars 





The information comes from Ford Europe, where the dematerialization of media must be on the road quickly since we announced that Ford cease to deliver the car with CD players.

Thus we learn that as in the United States, the European Ford will soon receive the SYNC infotainment system that is linked to the factory installation of three access ports or external (jack, SD, USB). This system can be combined with a Bluetooth option that will function as a hotspot to connect up to 5 wireless devices, in occurrence with phones. Connection iPod / iPhone will also be an option.

If you are or if you have around you, a new Ford Focus (except Trend I think), you'll notice that this is so. Ford estimates that by 2012, over 2 million Ford will be equipped in this way. It's still an odd decision because the last player K7 left the production lines there are only a few months to want to have to remove the CD audio support which is currently the most widely used worldwide.



A decision that could not satisfy the music lovers when we know that MP3 or SD cards let alone phones are generally supports very moderate sound quality (compression too high, clipping of bass and treble, premature cut of songs and so on ....). We can also think that this enables Ford to earn a few euros on the cost of production before "refourguer" desired against the CD player 100 or 200 euros! There's no small profit ...

Who knows.
